Downtown at New Year’s Eve
I’ve read many of the horror stories about the strip on New Year’s Eve, but what is downtown like? A little less crowded?

If I remember from last year, there was an admissin fee party on Fremont street. Not sure exactly what it included, as I had other plans. Some of the other regulars should be able to provide more details.

No matter where you are, you “can’t” go anywhere after the strip is closed, all alternative routes will be jammed. Last year, I was told that on new year’s eve it will cost you $150 for a limo, irrelevant of destination, if you can get one. Some cab drivers take a break during that time due to jammed traffic; it’s not to their advantage to sit in the traffic with fixed rate (time charge is minimal compared with when cabs are on the move). With like 200,000 visitors, even all cabs are moving, it’s still a long wait for a cab. Anyone who has attended CES (half of the new year crowd) know.
